About Us
- The main focus is to provide academic assistance and guidance to the Chennai based visually challenged students through reading programs.
- Over 2000 students having been supported by over 400 volunteers.
- The volunteers , who range from students/working professionals/entrepreneurs/retired people , read out to students who memorise the lessons or sometimes take notes in Braille. These students learn through ears.
- Since , they have a powerful memory , whatever is read out to them is retained for long.
- The services are entirely free and the students are also provided with refreshments during the sessions.
Facilities Offered
- This program mainly supports under-privileged visually impaired students to complete their college education. The services of the reading center include:
- Reading texts for students : The One Reader – One Student Principle is strictly followed during this reading session to ensure effectiveness.
- Scribing services for under-graduate / post-graduate students appearing for university examinations.
- Digitising of texts into audio format.
- Preparation of charts and other assistive teaching devices for students undergoing teacher training.
- Students are also assisted to take notes in Braille.
